About us

Marianna Fumai is a filmmaker and documentarist. Her research work about new audiovisual languages is aimed mainly at social issues. In 2013 she creates with Gabriella Cosmo REC Movie, a cultural association founded with the aim to research new forms of audiovisual experimentation, new types of communication and cooperation, working on projects incorporating fiction, non-fiction, transmedia storytelling, multimedia installations, theater, performance and film.

Iula Marzulli is artistic director and performer. Her work focus on mixing different artistic languages such as sound, movement, poetry and image. Since 2016 she is co-founder, with the painter Jara Marzulli, of the cultural association Alauda, that aims at the creation of artistic works within the field of visual and performing arts. Among the activities there are: training, education, artistic direction and promotion of cooperation among cultural operators and professionals, coming from different cultural contexts.

The founders of the two associations have already collaborated in different project as independent artists. Marianna Fumai (REC Movie) and Iula Marzulli (Alauda) has started in 2015-2016 with the production of the video poetry “Alimono”, based on the poems of the poet Chiara Catapano: a journey of self-discovery throughout the Mediterranean area, in particular crossing Greece. Marianna Fumai, as videmokaker and Iula Marzulli, as actress, also participated in the international project “H.O.S.T. -Hospitality, Otherness, Society, Theatre”, promoted by “Astragali Teatro” and sustained by the EU Programme “Culture 2007-2013”.

So close, so far” is the first collaboration among REC Movie and Alauda. The project, with socio-cultural aims, focus on the concept of testimony as personal narration of the historical events. “So close, so far” is part of the art activites of the international project “Testimony-Truth or Politics”, led by The Center for Cultural Decontamination, Belgrade in cooperation with The Ignorant Schoolmaster and his Committees, Belgrade; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade; Boem, Vienna, Austria; Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT Transeuropa), Rovereto, Italy; Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo; Centre for Cultural and Social Repair, Banja Luka; The Leibniz-Institute for East and Southeast European Studies, Regensburg, Germany.
